VHA Inc. Expands Relationship with Spheris
Spheris will provide VHA members with a full range of clinical documentation technologies
Franklin, Tenn July 27, 2007 Spheris is expanding its partnership with VHA Inc., the national health care alliance. Under the parties' expanded agreement, Spheris will provide VHA members with a full range of clinical documentation technologies in addition to industry-leading outsource services."Spheris is an integral component of our revenue management solution," said Amy Anthony, vice president of purchased services for VHA. "We are now able to expand the value VHA members receive from Spheris to include a unique, comprehensive set of medical transcription technology and services, and also extend the value of Spheris' solutions to our non-acute facilities."
VHA serves more than 1,400 hospitals and 21,000 non-acute care healthcare organizations in 47 states. VHA provides guidance, resources and networking opportunities to help its members improve both financial performance and the quality of patient care.
With a global network of 5,500 medical language specialists providing 24-hour service, 365 days a year, Spheris has been VHA's contracted partner for clinical documentation services since 2002. In June 2007, the agreement between Spheris and VHA was expanded to include outsource services for non-acute clinics and physician practices, as well as hospitals and health system enterprises. The amended contract also enables Spheris to supply clinical documentation technology-only solutions, including front-end and back-end speech recognition.
Spheris believes its approach is unique in the clinical documentation industry to bridge the gap between service and technology companies. Spheris offers a comprehensive, customizable platform for clinical documentation technologies that is available as a stand-alone solution or in concert with full or partial outsourcing.
The expanded agreement allows VHA members to receive preferred pricing on the new Spheris Clarity™ platform for clinical documentation. Unveiled in October 2006, Spheris Clarity is a fully integrated suite of applications that is designed to meet the diverse needs of every doctor and department within a health system enterprise. By allowing everyone to work on the same clinical documentation platform, Spheris Clarity improves the accessibility, interoperability, efficiency and productivity of health information management (HIM) systems.
“VHA members account for 28 percent of community-owned hospitals in the United States, and our relationship with VHA is a vital part of our strategy to promote the unique and compelling attributes of our Spheris Clarity platform across the industry,” said Jane LaBonte, vice president, sales'national accounts for Spheris.
