Spheris Ranks Among Nation's Largest Healthcare Technology Companies
”Healthcare Informatics 100' Names Spheris in Top 30 for Third Straight Year
Nashville, TN June 18, 2007 Spheris, a leading global outsource provider of clinical documentation technology and services, ranks number 22 on the 2007 list of the largest healthcare technology companies in the U.S., according to Healthcare Informatics magazine. The publication's annual rankings are based on overall revenue in the previous year. Spheris broke into the top 40 in 2004, and has earned a spot in the top 30 for three straight years. Additionally, Spheris was featured in a special “Headliners” section of Healthcare Informatics, which appeared alongside the annual rankings in the June issue. According to the magazine, "the 2007 Headliners represent some of the most outstanding leaders in the field - companies that don't just do what their clients tell them, but suggest to their clients what to do." Spheris strives to keep its clients on the cutting edge of clinical documentation technology. In 2006, the company acquired Vianeta Communications, a leading software developer for health information management (HIM) systems. Spheris also launched its new Spheris Clarity™ platform for clinical documentation, which allows healthcare providers to customize a comprehensive suite of industry-leading technologies. Clarity is available as a stand-alone solution or in concert with Spheris' global network of over 5,500 medical language specialists for outsourcing clinical documentation services. In its “Headliners” section, Healthcare Informatics highlighted the Vianeta acquisition and Clarity launch as providing Spheris with a solid foundation for continued expansion, especially as healthcare providers move to adopt the electronic health record (EHR). “Our long-term strategies have positioned us for additional growth as we move through 2007 and beyond,” said Spheris President and CEO Steven E. Simpson. “Our Clarity platform is designed to meet the needs of every department and physician throughout a health system enterprise. We believe our combined technology and services can also ultimately provide the most efficient means to populate clinical data into an EHR.”About Spheris Spheris is a leading provider of clinical documentation services and technology to health systems, hospitals and group practices throughout the U.S. Founded by physicians in 1993, Spheris employs a global network of medical language specialists for true 24-hour service, seven days a week, 365 days a year.
