Scott & White Announces Agreement for Information Processing Services with Spheris

Temple, Texas — April 28, 2004 — Scott & White today announced the signing of an agreement with Spheris, a leading national transcription, technology and service outsourcing company, to provide information processing services; including dictation and transcription services with advanced documentation technology across the Scott & White Health Care System. The deal provides for Spheris to employ medical transcriptionists from Scott & White, while at the same time ensuring Scott & White has access to new and emerging technologies in the information management field. ”This agreement with Spheris emphasizes Scott & White's commitment to set the industry standard in information technology, by providing access to the latest information for our staff and patients,' said Alfred B. Knight, M.D., Scott & White President and CEO. “We dictate about 45 million lines of transcription annually, or about 6,800 documents a day. New digital technologies, such as advanced template generation for greater efficiencies and strategies for instantaneous transcriptions, will enable us to be more efficient allowing patient information to be available even faster than today.” Spheris provides medical transcription technology and services to more than 200,000 practitioners at more than 300 health systems, hospitals and clinics in the United States and Canada. ”We are very pleased to provide our full suite of information chain management technology and services to Scott & White affiliated providers,' said Steven E. As part of the agreement the affected Scott & White workforce of 147 will be managed by Spheris and transition to its payroll effective June 1st.
