Inc. Magazine Ranks Spheris As Fastest-Growing Healthcare IT Company.

The Medical Transcription Company Places 16th Overall Among America's 500 Fastest-Growing Private Companies.

Franklin, TN — November 01, 2005 — FRANKLIN, Tenn. – Spheris, the leading global provider of medical transcription services and technology, is the fastest-growing healthcare IT company according to Inc. magazine's current listing of America's 500 fastest-growing private companies.

Spheris' ranking, which will be revealed this month in the 2005 Inc. 500 edition, not only awards the medical transcription company the top healthcare IT listing, but positions it 16th overall out of the entire field of 500 companies.

“Being recognized as one of the fastest-growing companies in a respected business publication like Inc. is a true testament to the more than 5,500 dedicated Spheris professionals who work hard each and every day to keep Spheris at the top of the medical transcription industry,” said Spheris President and CEO Steven E. Simpson.

Spheris' inclusion on the Inc. 500 list puts it in company with some of America's most successful companies that previously received the same designation. Companies like Microsoft, The Sharper Image, Oracle, Timberland, Domino's Pizza and Jenny Craig have all at some point in Inc. 500's 24-year history been ranked as one of the fastest-growing companies in the U.S.

The Inc. 500 ranks privately-held companies according to year-over-year revenue growth for the past three years. From 2001 to 2004, Spheris had a three-year revenue growth of 2,711 percent.

The Inc. 500 recognition comes on the heels of an aggressive growth plan Spheris announced last month. Spheris plans to expand its network of resources by hiring a total of approximately 2,000 new medical transcriptionists in 2006.

“The 2006 Spheris strategic plan is grounded in our promise to provide superior service to meet our customers' needs,” said Spheris Vice President of Marketing Harry Shaw. “Simply put, that means having a breadth of sophisticated, around-the-clock resources ready to be deployed at all hours of the day, all days of the year.”
